Masquerade is quickly catching up to the year′s successful films that have preceded it, creeping ever closer to reaching 10 million moviegoers.

According to the Korean Film Council′s Compiled Ticket Computer Network, Masquerade drew 109,483 to theaters on October 9, drawing a total of 8,440,561 moviegoers to date. At this rate, the film is expected to surpass nine million by the end of this week and 10 million by the end of the following week.

The film has continuously gathered a high number of moviegoers ever since it premiered on September 13, gathering eight million in just 25 days. It especially drew a surprising 500,000 people during the Chuseok Holidays, proving its status as a family film.

Although in its fifth week, the film is still number one in ticket sale ratios and at the Box Office. It only stepped down just once when Taken 2 premiered on September 27.

It has been gathering a steady 100,000 people on weekdays, and even 300,000 on the weekends.

The producers have been preparing an event to celebrate the film′s 10 million mark. Lee Byung Hun has said at the Open Talk event held at the Busan International Film Festival that the actors of the film will be meeting audiences in person dressed as their roles.
